[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rr88u8dVpKE&w=560&h=315] So glad I had the opportunity to do this piece for BlondeGang's Plane Walker. I''ve heard of Sickle-cell disease over the years, but didn't know how serious it was until now. Sickle-cell is very prominent in the African American community and yet many of us don't know what it is. This really opened my eyes and I hope I'll have the opportunity to create something about Sickle-cell in the future. Until then enjoy!
Sickle-cell disease is more common than we know. Currently labeled as the "forgotten disease," Sickle-cell affects 1 in 12 African Americans, yet it is also a disease that many know nothing of. As Sickle-cell awareness month draws to an end, please join this years 15th annual Walter E. Brandon Sickle-Cell Disease 5K walk/run at Fairmount park in Philadelphia, PA on September 22, 2012. Registration begins at 7am and the walk will begin at 8:35am. For more information on Sickle-cell disease please visit sicklecelldisorder.com. For information regarding the walk please visit facebook.com/itsplane or sicklecelldisorder.com. Donations can be made at: firstgiving.com/fundraiser/redribbon/sicklecellphiladelphia.
